Wiring Harness through tohe firewall

One problem I've been laboring over is how to get the bulky wiring harness connectors through the firewall so I can mount the computer inside the passenger compartment. Well after removing the glove box and then taking out the A/C I found the path to the old harness hole and was able to cut the rubber and get the harness through. Yippee!!!!!!!! Thank You Jesus for this was a blessing from Him who made me!

Radiator install - New muffler setup

I've been thinking about what I'd like to do with the exhaust system and how to make it special. so I found a 2004 Corvette setup from B&B with stainless pipes and center tips. The mufflers need a little more room on the passenger side as the battery well sits kdown farther so I had to cut a knotch in it and fiberglas the hole.
I had the brackets welded on the radiator and worked out the bolting patten to get it as far back as possible.

Differential install

I wasn't going to do much today because of the hand but just see how the differential setup was going to line up. Well one thing to another and I had the thing up on the jack and into the car! I can see a couple of other things I want to do now so it won't be fastened up tight. looks great in there thought.

Maybe a slow week

At the end of last week i got the 20 - 1/2" bolts drilled and fastened for the frame rail reinforcements. About 2/3 of the way through the big 1/2" drill got caught on the metal floor and decided the drill wanted to go around instead of the drill bite. OUCH! It really racked my fingers and today they are swollen. Of course I finished the job that day and a few others like fastening thereturn fuel line and brakeline along the rail. I came out great. Fingers still hurt but!The new extended steering knuckle is and rack and pinion steering in place.

Our Wedding Anniv. is Sunday so we are taking some time off and going to the beach for a few days to celebrate. The car will still be there next week. Got to have your priorities!!! And a happy wife.

Good day!

I didn't get alot done on the car today but had a great day taking care of my grandson Dustin.

He is just a joy to me and I cherish the time I get to be one on one with him. We play cars and

go outside and play ball with wiffleball bats. I wish I was able to do that with all my grand kids.

I tried bolting up the frame rails and found a great trick to make it a little easier. It's a 1/2 inch hole I have to drill up into the body, so I had just enough room to put the floor jack under the drill and jack the drill bite instead of my arm power. Thank You Jesus for saving my arms!

Prep, Paint, Parts, Power Steering

Well since last week I have been busy with car stuff and family stuff too. I thought I lost my chip for the camera but after a few days it turned up under my nose. That was uncomfortable!
Differential was painted in a metalic finish over the rust neutrilizer and it came out great. So I did a few more parts to see how they came out.

I finally started putting parts on the car instead of off. The suspension is looking good but it will be 3-4 weeks before the shock that are on backorder arrive.

Put on the frame rail reinforcement part of the kit. I need to bolt it up but ran out of drive for today.

Rusty Diff. / PS hoses

I feels like summer out in the garage after just a few hours. The temps are climbing and thats slowing me down. i worked on at wire brushing the Differential and adding a rust inhibitor so It can get painted.

The power Steering adapter hoses went on OK and I stopped short of the last line as it looks like it should fit around the oil pan. I'll wait and see on that one. I had to contact Boss Frog as the AN adapter for the remote bleeder to the throwout bearing is not the right one and doesn't come close to fitting. Hopefully that won't be a big deal. Also asked for the remainder of the kit.

Install clutch master cylinder

I didn't want to crawl up under the dash again but it has to get done someday. It was even tighter than the pedal work. The old cylinder came out after a upside down under the dash moment. The new one was not so nice as the part of the cylinder that fits into the firewall is 1 1/2 in diameter and the old one is 1 1/4. So it needed to be ground out to 1 1/2 to get started. The kit paperwork doesn't mention this little fact. Well that was not the hard part either. The linkage under the dash was so tight that only one hand could go up there and two were needed to get the linkage onto the existing hardware. Once I was able to get it started I could only make a 1/8 turn before turning the wrench and so on and so forth for ablut an hour. Did I mention being upside down? Who needs Yoga classes when you have this!

Drive by wire gas pedal install

Well in this electronics world we now have a gas pedal that is run by the computer. This is the new technology and my car will ot have a throttle cable like we're used to. Some of you already know this stuff but that was for the benefit of those that don't. This was the hardest day of all as there is no room up under the steering wheel and I'm old!!! After a few modifications to the bracket and yoga classes done under there it got mounted and feels comfortable. I don't want to do that one again in that space but still have to change out the clutch master that has linkage under there and the new computer will go on the other side up under the dash. Can't wait to do that!!!!!!!! Maybe I wait until I heal first.

Subframe fits perfectly

I started pulling the wiring harness that runs to the rear of the car apart.

It is mainly the hot battery wire and the ground wire. Although there is

a second set of small wires that I'm not sure of yet. So no cutting until

those wires a solved. The wires in the front are starter motor and trans

connections for the Miata trans.

The new subframe is right in the way so I decided to mount it in the car and

get it up off the floor. It fits perfectly and really gave me a feeling of progress.

more small stuff

Well today I wanted to get the brackets to the radiator layed out and so I made a template for the welder so a he can make the aluminium brackets and weld them in place.

Then it was the fuel line and moving the brake lines back into the corner and out of the way. The fuel line laid out perfectly with some of the old tapped holes in the body to mount them into. I ran it back to the regulator and will have to wait for the special fitting that goes into it. I was supposed to be shipped today, it was on back order.

Then back to the other rear wheel hub that needed to get pounded out. OH, what fun! But it's out and this time I didn't damage the seal so I only need to order one.
